This week's challenge at Simon Says Stamp and show is "No Rules".  For this I decided to try perfect pearls.  I will have to use this technique again, it was very easy, you just  brush it on.  I think I probably over did the butterflies.  This week Simon Says is offering a $50.00 gift certificate to their on line store.
Here is the August tag for Tim Holtz, 12 Tags of 2012.  This is only my third tag for this challenge.  I used the diffuser plates for this tag, so not quite center.  I will have to add more flowers to my tag, I like the effect.

Below is my Tim Holtz June tag, which I did not get to submit due to power outage.  The picture is of my ancestors first car.   My Great Grandmother is driving and my Great Great Grandmother is in the back.  The color was added using distress ink and craft nibs.  The car charm was stamped on shrink plastic, cut out and then shrunk.  I then added some embossing powder.

Well if time to post again for theStudio L 3Compendium of Curiosities II challenge. It is already challenge #10. This week it's tissue wrap flowers.  The instructions can be found on page 37.  I decided I did not like my first try, need to work that technique some more. For the tag with the bird (second try at tissue wrap flowers) I play around with glue again.  I used glue to stamp and created a resist.
This week the sponsor is  Funkie Junkie Boutique.  This weeks winner will receive a $25.00 gift certificate.

Sunday, June 17, 2012

This week's challenge at Simon Says Stamp & Show is; anything goes.  Below is a new stamp that I thought I would try.  I used alcohol ink, paint and perfect pearls on the embellishments.  I also dabbed small amounts of perfect pearls on the feather.

This week the lucky winner will receive a $50.00 gift certificate to Simon Says Stamp.

Monday, June 4, 2012

Week 8 of Linda's Studio L3 challenge.  This time we were to following the technique found on page 62 of Tim Holtz Compendium of Curiosities vol II. This challenge was called re purposed packaging.
I first embossed a piece of packaging material with cracked embossing folder.  I then used glue on the raised edges of the design.  I think this makes it look like it's raining?  The glue then created a resist on my tag.  So when I added my distressed ink, the glue resisted the ink.

I also used packaging material to cut out the fence, embossed it with wood grain, and then used alcohol ink to stain.  Also this week at Simon Says Stamp & Show, the challenge is to show some texture. The lucky winner will receive a $50.00 gift certificate to Simon Says Stamp Store.  I got the idea of the glue from Kaz.
I have just noticed that the theme is the same as the challenge on Artful Times. So I am also entering here.

Sunday, June 3, 2012

I finally started scrapbooking.  The title of this page is; "Dance like a Butterfly, Sting like as Bee".  My son decided to qualify in; Kick Boxing, Mauy Thai.  The pic is not very good, but it's all I have.
I am going to use this for Simon Says Stamp and Show Blog.  The lucky winner will get a $50.00 gift certificate to Simon Says Stamp Store.  The theme for the challenge is; One for the Boys.  I used distress inks, embossing, a lot of stamps and some Sizzix dies.

Thursday, May 31, 2012

This year Tim Holtz decided to stop doing 12 of Christmas.  Tim started this year doing 12 Tags of 2012. .  This is the first month that I have completed a tag for the challenge.  I can't wait to see what he doing for June.
I can't believe it is already challenge #7 at Studio L3.  This week we are following Tim Holtz's Compendium of Curiositie II, page 49.  Brushless water color.  This week eclectic Paperie, if offering a $25.00 gift certificate for the lucky winner.  I think the brushless water color is easier to do with distress pads versus stains.

Thursday, May 24, 2012

This week at Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge is; make something that make you think of a summer holiday.  For me that is always the ocean.  The winner will earn a $50.00 gift certificate to Simon Say Stamp.  I used both distress (yea, new summer colors) and archival inks.  The large seaweed is embossed.

This weeks challenge at Studio L3 is again from Tim Hotlz Book Compendium of Curiosities II.  You can find the instructions on page 48, call shattered stains. This challenge is sponsored by Simon Says Stamp World.

I decided to start Christmas projects early this year.  I am making an advent calendar for my grand kids.  I have to make each block twice.  I found that if you coat 140# water paper with glossy accents, it becomes bendable. Because of this, it should hold up.  I will stitch each block on to felt when I am done.   Each 6x6 block will be a pocket.  I may have to do this block over if I have the energy.  I used micro glaze to to make the distress stains permanent, however, there was some stain on the back of the reindeer.  So there is some smearing, but imperfection are part of art, right!

Spray with Pearl mist
Embossed the center of the Poppy

Yesterday I played around with Dabber resist.  You use paint first and then when you apply the distress ink, the paint resist the ink.  Here is my first try with this technique.  It was fun, but I still have work to do on my blending.  These were complete for the Creative Chemistry May Challenge, which I am Sponsoring

Seriously Creative Challenge

Here are a few other tags I made today.  The one on the left, I tried a water wash over a water color stamp.  Need to work on this.  The one on the right, I used perfect pearl mist over distress ink.  The one below with 2 perfect pearl mist sprayed on.  Both of these mist were made 3 years ago.  Those mini mister really preserve the color and the pearls  The tag below has been submit toSeriously Creative challenge seriously creative Challenge for Seriour cretive challenge

Here is a close up of the perfect pearls one.
I made a few tags today and made a mess.  I plan to post the following one in the CC101 FB group challenge. I do not like the color, looks very muddy in the pics, it is actually brighter.

Friday, April 27, 2012

I played around today with Distress Ink brushless water color.  I think I shoul have stop and not put the on boarder, or maybe a lighter color.  One you have the technique work about,it pretty easy to complete.

Another week, a new tag.  This one is for the L3 Studio.    The shell charms and heart were created using the Faux Patina technique, found on page 58 of  Tim Holtz's Compendium of Curiosities.  I have also decided to enter this tag in the Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge.  The challenge is to show your favorite word; mine is "beach". I loved living in Puerto Rico, which allowed me to live a couple of blocks from the beach.
